NILES — First-year Niles softball coach Dale Myer was pleased that his squad had four players earn first-team SMAC All-West Division honors and three more named honorable mention.

First-team picks were Hannah Albright, Caitlin Daly, Brooke Timm and Aynslee Myer.

Honorable mention selections were Taylor Altergott, Kelsey Barkman and Addison Davies.

“We worked really hard in the offseason on our offense and hitting and it really paid off as we landed four girls on the first team,” he said. “In this conference that is a pretty big deal. We play in one of the toughest leagues in the state. It is a huge accomplishment and I am pretty proud of them.”

Albright hit .457 with eight doubles, eight home runs and 42 RBIs.

Daly hit .353 with seven doubles, 10 home runs and 40 RBIs, while Myer hit .386 with five doubles and 30 RBIs.

Timm hit .473 with 17 doubles, two home runs and 39 RBIs.

The honorable mention selection statistics were equally as impressive.

Davies hit .359 with 14 RBIs, Barkman hit .380 with four doubles and 10 RBIs and Altergott hit .288 with four doubles, a home run and 17 RBIs.

“Our record did not reflect the season that we had,” Myer said. “We played some tough teams. Overall, I am pleased with the way we played and we are already working on next year.”
