NILES — Visiting Mattawan split a SMAC baseball doubleheader with Niles Wednesday afternoon.

The Wildcats won the first game 17-2, but the Vikings rebounded in the nightcap to earn a 5-3 victory.

The split leaves Niles with a 14-14 overall record.

In the win, Cade Vota doubled, while Jared Hainey earned the victory. Vota also had a double in the loss.

Niles softball

The Vikings were swept by the Wildcats 11-0 and 10-5.

Brooke Timm, Hannah Albright and Addison Davies all doubled in both games for Niles.

Brandywine softball

The Bobcats were swept by Bridgman 3-1 and 1-0 in BCS Athletic Conference play.

Malikiyyah Abdullah was 2-for-3 in the first game for the Bobcats.

Brandywine was held to just one hit in the nightcap.

Kennedy Byrd took the loss in both games.

The Bobcats are now 12-12 on the season.
