Edwardsburg closing in on Wolverine title

DOWAGIAC — The Edwardsburg golf team will take a hefty lead into the Wolverine Conference Tournament at Lake Doster May 17.

The Eddies have won six consecutive jamborees, including the one they hosted and the Three Rivers jamboree at Sauganash Golf Club last Friday.

Edwardsburg followed that up with another victory, this time at Klinger Lake in Sturgis on Tuesday.

The Eddies have 87 points heading into Friday’s jamboree hosted by Dowagiac at Hampshire Country Club.

The league tournament will be held at Lake Doster May 17.

Dowagiac has dropped from third place overall into fifth place with three consecutive poor performances.

The Chieftains have 49 points and trail fourth-place Paw Paw by 10 points.

Edwardsburg freshman Satchel Pierce continues to lead the chase for conference medalist.

Pierce has a stroke average of 39.222 compared to runner-up Jacob Farris of Plainwell, who has as stroke average of 40.444.

Dowagiac senior Nick Saltzman is currently in sixth place in the individual standings with an average of 43.000.
