Edwardsburg sweeps Vicksburg following split with Otsego

EDWARDSBURG — The host Eddies rebounded from their second loss of the season to sweep a Wolverine Conference doubleheader from Vicksburg Tuesday.

The Eddies defeated the Bulldogs 3-0 and 10-1.

Edwardsburg (19-2) split a pair of conference games against visiting Otsego May 3, falling to the Bulldogs 10-8 in the opener, before rebounding to win the nightcap 13-3.

In the opener against Otsego, Landen Cebra was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, while Austin Hurt homered, Jonah Sibley tripled and Chris Griffin doubled for the Eddies.

Hurt also drove in three runs.

In the nightcap, Cebra and Hurt both finished with three hits and three RBIs.

Hurt had his second home run of the night, while he also doubled twice.

Nick Bradley, Caden Goggins, Cebra, Matt Helper and Hunter Bedell also picked up doubles for the Eddies, who finished with 16 hits.

Sibley worked the first four innings to pick up the victory. Griffin pitched the final inning for Edwardsburg.

Monday afternoon, the Eddies scored three times in the bottom of the eighth inning to pick up the victory.

Griffin was 2-for-2, while Hurt homered again and drove in three runs.

Zach Priebe pitched all eight innings, allowing three hits and striking out seven.

In the nightcap, Sibley was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Griffin also doubled for the Eddies and drove in a pair of runs.

Sibley went the distance to earn the victory. He allowed one run on three hits with nine strikeouts.
