Robert Charles Wright, 73, of Vandalia, died Tuesday, May 1, 2018, while working on his property.

He was born Sept. 26, 1944, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, to Charles and Laura Jean Wright.

He married Sandra Lee Green March 29, 1969, in Cassopolis. She survives.

Robert was a devoted and loyal husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an active member of his church, serving 47 years as the treasurer. He was extremely hard working and willing to help out wherever and whenever needed, yet was willing to do so without recognition. Robert enjoyed fishing and going up north with his family. He and Sandy enjoyed traveling.

Robert retired from National Copper Products after forty-three years. He served on the board of the Cass County Fair for three years. Robert was respected and admired by those who knew him. He was detailed oriented and meticulous in everything he did. His family remembers him as being calm and even-tempered and says God broke the mold when he made him.

Even though Robert is in heaven, he will be greatly missed by the family and friends left here. He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Sandy Wright of Cassopolis; one daughter Renee (Adam) Newland of Three Rivers; two sons, Rob (Melody) Wright of Cassopolis and Rodney (fiancé Anna Hollesen) Wright of Marcellus; six grandchildren, Lindsey (Adam) Wright Carlisle, Victoria Wright, Hailey (fiancé Bret Tietsort) Wright, Alyssa Wright, Seth Newland, Carter Newland; one great granddaughter, Emma Grace Carlisle; brothers, Richard (Linda) Wright, Max (Kathy) Wright, Charles (Lori) Wright, Kevin (Becky) Wright all of Cassopolis; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2018, in Penn Friends Community Church, 19107 Quaker Street, Cassopolis. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2018, with gathering one hour prior. Pastor Greg Compton will officiate.

Robert will be laid to rest in Young’s Prairie Cemetery in Cassopolis.
