Luella D. Collins, 89, of Dowagiac, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac.

A Celebration of Life service will take place at noon on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Second Baptist Church, 203 S. Paul Street, Dowagiac. Friends may visit with the family prior to the service from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Second Baptist Church. Luella was born on Dec. 1, 1928, to Albert and Alice (Robinson) Dillard in Rolling Fork, Mississippi. On Dec. 21, 1943, she married the love of her life Percy Collins, Sr. in Mississippi. They moved to Dowagiac in the 1960s where they started their own restaurant that Luella managed for many years before retirement. Church was very important to her, she was an Usher for over 65 years, most recently at the Dowagiac Second Baptist Church. In her younger years, she enjoyed fishing and barbequing. Most of all Luella loved her family and will be missed by all who knew her.

Luella is survived by her children, Alice Faye (Amos, Sr.) Clark, Henry (Peggy) Collins, Larry (Mildred) Collins, Jerry (Anne) Collins, Charles (Angela) Collins, Earl Collins, Terry (Robin) Collins, Brenda Faye (Steven Avery) Collins, Linda Faye (Stephen Bundle) White, Frankie Faye (Jimmy) Hall; daughters-in-law Paulette Collins and Martha Jean Collins; very good friend Sharon and a host of Grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Luella is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, children Percy Collins, Jr. and Albert Lee Collins and her siblings Hayes Dillard, Albert Dillard and Erchalene Bennett.
