Lillian Buchthal Swank, 92, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018, in North Carolina.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, 326 N. Lowe Street, Dowagiac with Pastor Jodi Cartwright officiating.

Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac. Memorial contributions may be made to Audubon North Carolina, 400 Silver Cedar Court, Suite 240, Chapel Hill, NC 27514. Those wishing to leave a condolence online may do so at clarkch.com.
Lillian Swank, daughter of the late Charles and Ethel (Gustafson) Buchthal, was born on Nov. 27, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois where she lived her early life.

She moved to Dowagiac as a teenager and lived most of her adult life there.

She was employed in the accounting office at Ameriwood in Dowagiac for many years.

In 2015, she moved to Greenville, North Carolina to live near her daughter.

She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Dowagiac.
Lillian is survived by her daughters Laura S. (James) Katona of Wading River, NY and Dr. Katherine Swank of Greenville, NC; sons Paul Swank and Jeffery (Nora) Swank and Daughter-in-law, Sandra Scott Swank all of South Bend; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gordon Virgil Swank, infant son, a brother and two sisters.
