Lillian Swank, daughter of the late Charles and Ethel (Gustafson) Buchthal, was born on Nov. 27, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois where she lived her early life.

She moved to Dowagiac as a teenager and lived most of her adult life there.

She was employed in the accounting office at Ameriwood in Dowagiac for many years.

In 2015, she moved to Greenville, North Carolina to live near her daughter.

She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Dowagiac.
Lillian is survived by her daughters Laura S. (James) Katona of Wading River, NY and Dr. Katherine Swank of Greenville, NC; sons Paul Swank and Jeffery (Nora) Swank and Daughter-in-law, Sandra Scott Swank all of South Bend; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gordon Virgil Swank, infant son, a brother and two sisters.
