Two men shot in Dowagiac Sunday morning

DOWAGIAC— Two men were shot at a residence in Dowagiac in the early hours of Sunday morning, according to the Dowagiac Police Department

Dowagiac Public Safety Director Steven Grinnewald reported that officers are investigating a shooting with injuries that occurred on Sunday, after receiving a 911 call around 1:20 a.m. regarding a fight at a party on the 200 block of Miller Street in Dowagiac.

When officers responded to the scene, they found that the majority of the subjects at the party had already left. As officers were clearing out the remaining individuals, they were told that two subjects had independently presented themselves to emergency room personnel at Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac.

Officers went to the hospital and found both victims had come from the party in the 200 block of Miller Street. Both subjects, a 21-year-old man from Benton Harbor, and a 21-year-old man from Ohio, formerly of Dowagiac, were both struck in the leg.

The injuries appear to be nonlife-threatening at this time, according to the Dowagiac Police Department.

The shooting suspect or suspects are currently not known, and the shooting remains an ongoing investigation.
