Oval L. Street, 85, of Decatur, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at the Timbers of Cass in Dowagiac.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Newell Chapel, 83313 M-51, Decatur officiated by Elder Calvin Bontrager. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Decatur VFW or North Wayne Mennonite Church. Oval was born on Jan. 10, 1933, in Neelyville, Missouri to Edward and Florence (McCollum) Street. He graduated from Eau Claire High School. Oval proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954.
On Dec. 12, 1953, he married the love of his life Jeanette Walters in Berrien Center. He worked for Auto Specialties in St. Joseph as a Lab Analysis for over 25 years before retirement. Oval enjoyed eating at Lutz’s restaurant every Sunday where he insisted on paying for whoever went with him. He was a lifelong member of the Decatur VFW and the American Legion. Oval was known as a kind-hearted soul and will be missed by all who knew him.
Oval is survived by his children Bonnie Stone of Montana and Richard Street of Eau Claire; five grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; three siblings and two step-siblings; special friends Vernon (Carol) Wikinson and Emma Madden and numerous nieces and nephews.
Oval was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife Jeanette; one brother and one step-sister.
