Aug. 4, 1931 — March 17, 2018

Geraldine M. Duis, 86, of Niles, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born to the late John and Helen (Kemp) Vitellaro on Aug. 4, 1931, in Chicago.

Shortly after graduating from high school, Geraldine married Donald H. Duis on Nov. 13, 1954, at a ceremony in Niles.

Geraldine was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Taking care of her immediate and extended family was what brought her the most joy. For almost 50 years, her and Don enjoyed their summers with friends and family at Camp Wildwood on Juno Lake.

Preceding Geraldine in death are her parents John and Helen Vitellaro, a son Donald R. Duis, and her siblings; John Vitellaro, Madeline Masterman, and Helen Walsh.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Donald H. Duis, her sons Steven (Rhonda) Duis of North Carolina and Thomas Duis of Las Vegas, her four grandchildren; Jodee Duis, Zach Duis, Taylor Duis and Sam Duis, and three great-grandchildren; Alayna Duis, Alyson Williams and Autumn Williams.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, March 26, 2018, with a time of visitation beginning at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Geraldine will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Amvets Post 1978 immediately following services, from 4 to 6 p.m., at cemetery.
