Guylor LaVern Haines Sr., of Niles

Guylor LaVern Haines Sr., 75, of Niles, died peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, in Valley View Healthcare Center in Elkhart. He was born Nov. 14, 1942, in Calvin Township, Michigan, the third of nine children born to Guylor Garland and Ruth Elnore (Lane) Haines. He married Margaret Louise Ward Feb. 19, 1966, in Niles. She survives. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Alma Robinson; and two brothers, Eugene Haines and Johnny Haines.

Guylor was a diehard Cubs fan. His family is convinced that he has seen every cowboy movie ever made.

Guylor will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of almost 52 years, Margaret Haines of Niles, two sons, Guylor Haines, Jr., of Niles, Keith Haines of Kalamazoo; four sisters, Gloria (Joe) Lane of Lansing, Mary (Gil) Bradley of Vandalia, Goldie King of Vandalia, Adeline Walker of Elkhart; one brother, Harland Haines of Vandalia; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather on the day of the Haines’ 52nd wedding anniversary, Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis, with the Reverend Michael Anderson officiating.
