Hazel Elms, 95, of Niles, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, at Lakeland Hospital, Niles.

On Dec. 12, 1922, Hazel was born to the late Oliver and Ovella (Tate) Franks in Lafferty, Arkansas.

She married Mack Elms at a ceremony in Batesville, Arkansas on Nov. 3, 1939.

Hazel took great pleasure quilting.

She is preceded in death by her husband Mack, her parents, her son Oliver Elms; brothers, Floyd Franks, Clyde Franks, J. C. Franks, Roy Franks, Joseph Franks, and one sister, Bessie Franks.

Surviving Hazel are her children, Verl (Judy) Elms of Valparaiso, Indiana, Carolyn (Gary) Holmes of Niles, Darrel (Laura) Elms of Battle Creek, Annette Hamrick of Niles and Janice (Mike) Luke of Niles. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild and three sisters, Alphae Love of Mt. Pleasant, Arkansas, Edith Patterson of Batesville, Arkansas, and Lois Winningham of Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Visitation to honor Hazel’s life will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel, 61453 M-51 North, Niles, with the service beginning at 11 a.m.
