Donna Shaffer passed away Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, after a sudden illness.

She was loved dearly by her family and many friends, to whose life she brought great peace and joy.

Donna was born in Niles to Simeon and Juanita Belknap (Sanders), and went to Niles High School.

She met Keith Shaffer while attending Michigan State University. They married on March 26, 1955.

After moving to California, they raised three children.

Donna was a successful real estate broker in San Jose. She also was a certified tai chi instructor and taught for many years. In addition, Donna was an accomplished reiki master, with many appreciative clients and students.

Donna enjoyed playing bridge, reading, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and volunteering for organizations, including Pathways Hospice.

Donna loved spending time with her family, camping at the lake and the ocean, and skiing in the mountains.

Donna is survived by her children, Tami Shaffer, Tori Shaffer (Michael Dedina), and Kerry Shaffer; and grandchildren Kyle Shaffer (Vicki), Lindsay Collishaw, Megan Collishaw and Tara Collishaw.

She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Abigail Shaffer, Eleanor Shaffer, and Tatum Shaffer; and her brother, Simeon Eugene Belknap.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Shaffer.
