Gloria Renee Starrett, 65, of Dowagiac, passed away unexpectedly, on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at her home.

A celebration of life service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac. Visitation will be one hour prior from 4 to 5 p.m. also at the funeral home. Renee was born on Jan. 14, 1952, to Wayne and Roselene Pompey, Sr. in Dowagiac. She graduated from Dowagiac High School. On June 4, 1971, she married Lawrence Starrett in Dowagiac. Renee worked for Borgess Lee Memorial for nearly 20 years before retiring. She enjoyed baking, decorating, gardening, road trips and traveling. Renee was an avid Detroit Tigers and Michigan State fan. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.

Renee is survived by her husband of 46 years, Lawrence; children, Kristi (Bret) Barnett of Westville, Indiana and Christopher (Sarah) Starrett of Ottawa, Kansas; grandchildren, Madelyn, Gwendolyn and Adah Starrett; brother, Kevin (Bonnie Wurster) Pompey; sister, Debi (Ernest) Berkley and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Roselene and siblings, Wayne, Richard, Patricia and Brian.
