Jan. 22, 1922 – Dec. 24, 2017

The long and good life of Mrs. Olive Mae “Libby” (Myers) Camp came to a peaceful end on Christmas Eve.

Libby enjoyed spending time with her family and telling stories of the Great Depression and WW2. Gardening, crossword puzzles, and the Olympics were her passions; her family and friends quickly learned to never bother her during telecasts of the Winter Olympics Ice Skating competitions.

Libby Camp

She was born in Niles in 1922 into a large family and lived most of her life in Niles and the surrounding area. She married Richard L. Camp, a pharmacist, also of Niles in 1943, and they were married for 50 years prior to his death in 1993.

She is also preceded in death by their daughter Barbara E. Troost in 2008.  Libby is survived by her youngest sister Mrs. Jacqueline Womack of Niles, as well as her remaining children Steven L. Camp of Myrtle Beach South Carolina, Elise M. Teeter of Las Vegas Nevada, Martin J. Camp of Jenison, Michigan, and Ms. Julie A. Gawat of Des Plaines, Illinois who was her devoted caregiver in her final years.  Libby’s descendants also include 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and more nieces and nephews than can be counted.

Cremation services are planned by Smith Corcoran Funeral Home in Chicago, Illinois. Per her final wishes, Libby’s ashes will be scattered in a memorial service at a later date.
