Levina “Lee” Engelberg, 77, of Niles, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, at her residence, of sudden but natural causes.

She was born March 2, 1940, in Pentwater, Michigan, to the late L. D. and Mary P. (Verschueren) Ball.

She was married on Nov. 13, 1975, to Walter Engelberg.

In addition to being a homemaker, Lee worked for many years as a secretary.

She was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church, and enjoyed volunteering in St. Mary’s Food Pantry. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies of Niles and the Blue Star Mothers.

Lee was an avid reader and enjoyed her time spent amongst friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a stepson, Warren Engelberg; three brothers; and a sister.

Lee is survived by her children, Benjamin Engelberg of Williamston, South Carolina, Melanie Ross of Beaufort, North Carolina; stepchildren, Walter Engelberg of Custer, Michigan and Ronald Engelberg of Niles; as well as nine brothers and sisters.

A time of visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, at Brown Funeral Home, concluding with a rosary service at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Niles. Levina will be laid to rest next to her husband in Bachelor Cemetery in Fountain, Michigan, on Friday afternoon.

Memorial contributions may be made in Levina’s memory to March of Dimes or St. Mary’s Service Center Food Pantry.
