Bridgman beats Buchanan boys; Bucks rout Bees

BUCHANAN — The Buchanan boys basketball team dropped a hard-fought 70-67 game to visiting Bridgman in a BCS Athletic Conference Red Division clash Friday.

The Bucks (2-3, 2-1 Red) led 13-10 after one quarter, but trailed 34-30 at halftime.

The Bees (2-2, 1-2 Red) opened up a 53-47 lead heading into the final quarter.

“It was close the entire way,” Buchanan coach Reid McBeth said.

Carter Jeffries and Chris Young scored 17 and 16 points respectively to lead the Bucks, while Austen Taylor added nine points.

Nick Boyd scored a game-high 27 points to lead Bridgman, which also got 12 points from Hunter Adams and 10 points from Drew Dow.

Girls basketball

BRIDGMAN — Visiting Buchanan outscored Bridgman 25-5 in the first half and cruised to a 42-29 BCS Athletic Conference Red Division girls basketball victory Thursday night.

After taking a 10-5 lead after one quarter, the Bucks (3-2, 1-2 BCS Red) blanked the Bees (1-6, 1-3 Red) in the second quarter to take control of the contest.

Bridgman outscored Buchanan 24-17 in the second half, but could not overcome the early deficit.

Jayla Bibbs scored a game-high 16 points to lead the Bucks, who also got 15 points from Megan Adkerson.
