Charles Murray, of Louisville, Mississippi

Charles Murray, 66, was called home on Dec. 18, 2017, to be with his heavenly father.

Charles was born in Louisville, Mississippi on July 9, 1951, by the union of Henry and Mildred (Murff) Murray.  His parents later Moved to Dowagiac, where he lived out his life with his wife Roxsan (Grady) Murray of 46 wonderful years.

Charles was a drum major in the Dowagiac Union High School marching band. He graduated in 1969 from Dowagiac Union High School.  He retired from Verizon after 40 years of service. Charles loved the Chicago Bears, win or lose. Charles dedicated his life to his family and was an amazing son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. Charles loved spending time with his family and friends. Charles was a man of integrity, intellect and compassion.

Charles loved others and would give anything he had to those in need, whether it was time, advice or financial. Charles was an organ donor and was able to continue his acts of kindness and generosity by donating his corneas to the “Gift of Life.”

Charles is survived by his wife Roxsan (Grady) Murray, his parents Henry & Mildred Murray also of Dowagiac, his brother Larry (Eunice) Murray of Dowagiac, his two daughter Angela (Christopher) Brown of Dowagiac, Regina Murray of Dowagiac, his grandchildren Christopher Murray, Taren Murray, Tiara Brown, Crystal Murray, and Daven Brown all of Dowagiac, his great-grandchildren Amadiano Reyna, Brooklynn Brown and Brantley Murray all of Dowagiac,  special cousin Patricia Farrow of Dowagiac, and a host of family and friends.

His life will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2017, at Second Baptist Church located at 203 South Paul St., Dowagiac. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Funeral will follow immediately after at noon with repass to follow also at Second Baptist Church.
