Russell L. Pfaff, 95, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, in Aurora, Illinois.

A celebration of life service will take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, with Pastor Jill Orr officiating.

Russell was born June 25, 1922, in Sioux City, Iowa. He spent all his formative years in South Sioux City, Nebraska graduating high school there. He attended Wayne State College prior to entering the Navy during World War II.

Upon discharge from the Navy, he joined his father in law in the candy business. He later was employed by E. J. Brock and Sons where he spent 33 years prior to retiring. Upon retirement Mr. Pfaff became a volunteer at Carolina Medical Center, Pineville, North Carolina, a duty he thoroughly enjoyed.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Patricia. Following her death, he moved to Illinois to be closer to family. He most recently resided at Plum Landing in Aurora, Illinois until his passing.

Russell is survived by his brother-in- law, Fred W. (Fritzie) Findeisen; nephew Fritz R. (Juli) Findeisen; and niece, Kristina (Dan) Larsen. He was also the beloved great uncle of Derek, Kristof, Fritzel and Michell, all of whom he proudly enjoyed watching wrestle throughout high school.
