Kassidy Binns is a senior on the Dowagiac volleyball team.

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

KB: Making varsity all four years in high school.

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

KB: One of my biggest disappointments as an athlete is not having a winning season.

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

KB: My hero in life is my mom because she’s such a hard worker and has always been there for me.

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

KB: I’m the most nervous in the game when the other team only needs one point to win the game and I’m up to serve.

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

KB: An embarrassing athletic moment for me was when I was playing defense and I got hit super hard in the face by the ball.

How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?

KB: How I tend to train when I’m by myself is setting against the wall or setting into my setter’s eye net.

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

KB: If I didn’t play volleyball I would probably run track because I enjoy running. 

Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?

KB: Sports are an important part of a high school experience because it’s a way to meet new people and teaches teamwork.

How would you give away $50,000?

KB: How I would give $50,000 away is by giving it to the Cancer Society.   

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

KB: If I could be the head coach of a team for a year I would choose the Notre Dame volleyball team because I love volleyball and Notre Dame.

If I did not play sports, I would…?

KB: If I didn’t play sports I would probably just work.

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

KB: The most challenging thing for me to do in my sport is try and make a good set when the pass is super close to the net.

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

KB: If I could change one rule about volleyball It would be net calls.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

KB: The best compliment I have ever received is that I’m a hard worker.

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

KB: The scariest thing I have had to do is give a speech in front of a bunch of people but I’m glad that I did it because it helped my fear of giving a speech.

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

KB: The last thing I saw someone do that really impressed me is when the person in front of me in the drive thru paid for my food and I didn’t even know them.

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

KB: My favorite hobby is volleyball because it’s fun and I get to play it with my friends.
