Murray Leon Winningham, of Niles

Berrien Springs – Murray Leon Winningham, 86, passed away at 1:29 a.m. on Aug. 24, 2017, in Lakeland Hospital in Niles.

Murray was born on July 10, 1931, in Wynne, Arkansas to the late Murray Loe and Florance Atalia (Hudson) Winningham. On Dec. 3, 1949, in Wynne, Arkansas, Murray married Ella Mae (Waters) and she passed away on April 3, 2015. He was also preceded in death by children, Shirley Herr, Gerald Winningham; and sisters, Pauline Leonard, Corrine Franks, and Florence Page.

Murray is survived by son, Kenneth (Nancy) Waters; brothers; Jessy (Ann), Garland, Ronald (Kaye), and Ernest (Cindy) Winningham; grandchildren; Kimberly (Doug) Boal, Gerald “Scott” (April) Winningham, Ronald (Tamara) Pressler II, Ronica Pressler, and Matthew (Stephanie) Winningham; great-grandchildren; Cody (Stephany) Boal, Kaine Boal, Faith Biggs, Dylan Winningham, Gage Winningham, Tristian Pressler, Gabrielle Pressler, Gracia Pressler, Bryce McLane, Ella McLane, Natalie Winningham, Abigail Talley, and Seth Winningham; and great-great-grandchildren; Evylen Boal and Vivyen Boal.

Murray was a welder at Clark Equipment for over 30 years before retiring. Very well respected, honorable caring man. He enjoyed working with his hands. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and was an outdoorsman. He raised his own children and others as his own. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 28 in Halbritter Wickens Funeral 615 E. Main St. Niles. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017 in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.
