James G. “Little Jimmy” Polmanteer, 69, of Elkhart, passed away Saturday, Aug.19, 2017, at his home.

A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Clark Chapel & Cremation Services, 405 Center St., Dowagiac with Pastor Justin Shepard officiating. Jimmy was born on June 17, 1948, in Kalamazoo to Grant and Esther (Orr) Polmanteer. He graduated from Loy Norrix High School in 1966. Jimmy worked for many years as a tool and die maker and designer.  retiring from Midland Machine. Jimmy had a love for the outdoors.

He enjoyed fishing, turkey shoots and spending much of his free time on Lake Michigan with his boat. He was an avid University of Michigan Fan and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Jimmy is survived by his children, Tina Woolsey of Dowagiac, Kim Howard of Dowagiac and Jason (Jessica) Polmanteer of Muncie, IN; grandchildren, Barry Yakim, Jr., Katie Howard, Ashley Woolsey, David Woolsey, Jamie Howard, Elizabeth Polmanteer, Michael Polmanteer, Faith Polmanteer and Ethan Jay; siblings, Mary (Richard) Hoag and Sue (Jim) Liles; many Nieces and Nephews and his beloved dog, Star. He was preceded in death by his parents.
