BATTLE CREEK — Visiting Niles blanked Battle Creek Central in its tennis and SMAC season opener Tuesday.

In its second match of the day, against SMAC opponent Battle Creek Lakeview, the Vikings were blanked 8-0.

The Bearcats forfeited at No. 4 singles, as well as No. 3 and No. 4 doubles.

The Vikings won the remaining flights by straight sets, including blanking Battle Creek Central at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles.

Blake Sarratore defeated Remy Rinaldo 6-0 and 6-0 in singles competition, while Trey Knight and Addison Davies defeated Enes Canak and Nic Haske 6-0 and 6-0 in double action.

Lakeview swept the four singles flights, dropping just one set to the Vikings.

Niles will host at 1 p.m. Kalamazoo Central in a SMAC non-divisional match Wednesday and then face Mattawan at 4 p.m. in a SMAC West Division contest.
