Franklin G. Bolinger, of Niles

June 11, 1920 – Aug. 10, 2017

Franklin G. Bolinger, 97, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017. 

2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 

He was born June 11, 1920, in Niles, to the late Frederick and Ruth (Ludwig) Bolinger and is also preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Willard) Bolinger; and sisters, Edith and Dorothy Bolinger.  Franklin is survived by his sons, William (Joan) and James (Vicki) Bolinger; daughter, Carol (Rainer) Wallace; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran who served in the South Pacific, an Eagle Scout who developed many hobbies, a longtime member of East Baptist Church in Whitehall, a former member of First Baptist Church in Niles, Michigan. 

Franklin retired from Western Electric as an engineer and was an avid marathon runner into his seventies. 

Special thanks to hospice nurses, Julie Maynard and Marketa Williams.  A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. with visitation 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, at the Schoedinger Northeast Chapel 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna, Ohio.  Graveside service with military honors will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16 at Silverbrook Cemetery 1400 E. Main St., Niles, Michigan.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice, 1001 Kingsmill Pkwy, Columbus, Ohio 43229.
