Aug. 25, 1973 – June 26th, 2017
Isaac P. Montgomery, 43, of Elkhart and formerly of Cassopolis went home to be with the Lord after a three-year battle with two different cancers. He was born on August 25, 1973, in Goshen, Indiana and was a graduate of Ross Beatty High School in Cassopolis, Michigan. He had most recently been employed as a customer service representative at Forest River in Elkhart, Indiana.
Isaac was a gifted musician who sang and played in many bands (Just Cause, After Forever, Bluer Skyz, New School Ministas, Retro Radio 198.7, and Unsupervized). He had recently travelled to New Mexico to visit family there, which is where his condition significantly declined and he passed away on June 26 in Farmington, New Mexico. Isaac leaves behind two sons, 10 year old Evan and 7 year old Wesley, who now reside with their mother, Elizabeth of Mishawaka, Indiana; his mother and step-father, Karen and Larry Crowder of New Mexico; his father and step-mother, Lloyd and Pamela Montgomery of Cassopolis, Michigan; a sister, Esther (Jay) Fox of Victory, Wisconsin; four brothers, Marshall (Theresa) Barrington of Colorado, Jeremy (Laurie) Montgomery of Elkhart, Indiana, Joshua (Ashley) Montgomery of Dowagiac, Michigan, and Ian (Megan) Montgomery of Bristol, Indiana; a maternal grandmother, Barbara Rogers of Florida; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. His creative spirit and kind nature will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Richard (Dick) Rogers and his paternal grandparents Thomas and Agnes Montgomery. Isaac’s mother was with him as he passed from this life to eternal rest shortly after receiving communion from Fr. David. A memorial service will take place at the United Methodist Church in Cassopolis on Aug. 12, 2017, beginning at 1 pm, to be officiated by Rev. Wade Panse, and Rev. Charles Keller of Diamond Cove Missionary Church in Cassopolis.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the trust fund being established for Isaac’s sons, Evan and Wesley. Isaac left these words for those left behind: “Forever Young – I’m never going to grow up. I’m never going to grow old. I’m never going to regret being who I am, even if too bold. I’ve always been a kid at heart, and that’s just the way I will stay; so when I leave this mortal world, the universe I’ll have to play. Life’s too short to get stressed out. You have to learn to laugh and shout; and share with others happiness, bringing out their very best. So whether you remember me as joker, fool, or friend; please don’t forget that I’ll be with you till the end.” Amen.
