Stanley Alan Williams, 72, passed away at 7:25 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Northwestern Medical Center in Chicago.
Stanley was born Nov. 30, 1944, in Patterson, New Jersey, to Bennyjoe M. and Irene M. (Saxton) Williams. Stanley’s father, Bennyjoe passed away on July 3, 1989.
On June 21, 1974, Stanley married Sue Ann (Denaway). She survives along with Stanley’s mother, Irene; daughter Amy Cavanaugh; son John M. (Maryjo) Williams; grandchildren Lindsay, Madison and Peyton Cavanaugh, Logan and Lane Williams, and Gavin Morales; and siblings Dale (Kathy) Williams, Sandy Williams, Scott (Connie) Williams, Diane (Fred) Rodgers, Melissa (Ralph) Pletcher and Bruce (Shelley) Williams.
Stanley honorably served his country as an instructor in the mine warfare school for the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He retired after 34 years as a service tech from Montgomery Ward.
If there was no snow on the golf course, Stanley was there playing golf with his buddies. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and guns. He could be found many nights in the bleachers watching his grandchildren as they participated in sports.
A memorial service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 9 S. Fourth St., Niles, where family and friends may gather for an hour prior to the service. The U.S. Navy and American Legion Post 51 will provide Stanley with military honors following the service at the church. A luncheon will follow in the parish hall.
