Karina Michelle Johnson, 43, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017, at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.

A celebration of life service will be hosted at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Newell Chapel, 83313 M-51, Decatur, with Pastor Tim Mathis officiating. Family will receive friends two hours prior to the service, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Karina Johnson

Karina was born April 14, 1974, to Fred and Patricia Kistner in Dowagiac.

On April 29, 1995, she married Geoff Johnson in Dowagiac.

Karina graduated from Dowagiac High School. She then received her associate’s degree from Lake Michigan College and a bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University.

Karina and Geoff were long time members of Victory Missionary Baptist Church in Decatur. She played the piano at church for several years and would often perform clarinet duets with Geoff.

Karina is survived by her husband of 22 years, Geoff; parents Fred and Patricia Kistner; parents-in-law George and Velma Johnson; brother Aaron (Alaina) Kistner; sister Tanya Settle; brother-in-law Greg (Stacy) Johnson; nieces and nephews Elizabeth and Austin Kistner, Jordan Frizzo and Eluvia Johnson’ and great-nieces Charleigh and Lennox Fennell.
