Daniel “Dan” P. Cleveland, 57, of Dowagiac, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Kalamazoo.
A celebration of life gathering will be hosted from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2017, at Clark Chapel & Cremation Services, 405 Center St., Dowagiac. A private burial will be at a later date in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Dan was born in Chicago Heights, Illinois, on Nov. 14, 1959, to James W. and Mary P. (Dalton) Cleveland.
He graduated from Dowagiac Union High School in 1978.
Dan married the love of his life, Lori A. Bentz, on Sept. 25, 1987, in Cassopolis.
Dan was a member of the Pipestone Golf League. He was a quiet, peaceful man who loved the outdoors. Dan spent many hours on Magician Lake fishing from his pontoon boat, watching the eagles and relaxing. He enjoyed spending time up north in Ludington, collecting rocks, visiting Michigan lighthouses, cooking for his family and driving his Jeep Wrangler with the top down. Dan’s greatest pride and joy was his family, especially his daughter, Kelsey.
Dan is survived by his daughter, Kelsey (Brian) Kline of Hill Air Force Base in Utah; mother Mary Cleveland of Dowagiac; sisters Kathy (Dick) Trail of Eau Claire and Joleen (Tom) Staffier of Florida; brother Jim (Kelly) Cleveland of Oregon; sisters-in-law Nancy (Rick) Myers of Dowagiac and Sandy Bentz of California; brother-in-law Jim Bentz of South Bend, Indiana; companion Doreen Parron of Dowagiac; and several nieces and nephews.
Dan was preceded in death by his father James, wife Lori and his daughter, Rebecca.
