Record storeowner Matt Shaver celebrated Record Store Day Saturday with none other than a live music event at Rumor Has It, 216 E. Main St.

Musicians from the Chicago-based Nicholas Kazonis Band took to the store’s stage and could be heard rocking down the block, drawing more customers to the store.

“That was the idea,” Shaver said. “It gets everybody in.”

Customers were also treated to several rare collectible albums made available for the occasion.

Shaver said each year on Record Store Day, these exclusive releases make their way to only Indie store shelves.

This year, albums such as The Doors “Live at Matrix ’67,” Fleetwood Mac “Alternate Mirage” and the Red Hot Chili Peppers “Go Robot” were available, according to RecordStore.com.

But it is not just the rarity of a vinyl album that draws customers to the discs.

Rumor employee Sophia Brown said records give music a tangible form that just cannot be beat by modern music mediums.

“It makes music an experience,” Brown said. “ When you listen to a record, you get to know the album and the artist.”
