John Lidecker, 63, a lifelong artist and resident of Niles, passed away at home Tuesday, March 14, 2017.

John Lidecker

After graduating from Niles High School, John went on to further his education at Southwestern Michigan College, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts.
John’s compassion and caring for his fellow man was evident in his everyday walk in life. He was extremely involved in the Niles community and loved everyone he came in contact with downtown.
Anyone who met John knew he was an artist, compassionate human and passionate business person. He was tremendously talented in painting and drawing. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all of the Niles community.
Early in his adult life, John wed Rebecca (Briney) Lidecker. After John and Rebecca divorced, he later wed Lisa Brown. John never had an enemy and remained friendly with Rebecca and Lisa, affectionately referring to them as “ex-1” and “ex-2.”
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Deborah Lidecker.
John is survived by his children, Audrey (Shawn) Moore of Goshen, Indiana, James Lidecker of Indianapolis, Seth (Kelly) Briney of Sturgis, Kellie (Mark) Brown of Niles, Angel Brown of Niles and Brad (Elizabeth) Brown of South Bend; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother James “Mike” (Delphine) Everett of Granger, Indiana; four nephews; two nieces; and a list of friends that is too long to count.
A memorial visitation will be hosted at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Front Street Pizza Pub in Niles. Those attending are encouraged to wear their favorite Hawaiian shirt, flip flops with socks, sunglasses, straw hats and as much color as possible. John was not a dark person, and his memorial service will be no different. Please come and share a memory with his family.
