Southwestern Michigan College’s Internship and Career Fair involving 74 Michigan, Indiana and Illinois employers takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at the Mathews Conference Center East on the Dowagiac campus.
The community is invited as well as SMC students to take advantage of networking opportunities with prospective job providers.
Employers expect to bump up hiring new college graduates for U.S. positions, the National Association of Colleges and Employers reported. Employers taking part in NACE’s annual job outlook survey stated they would hire 5.8 percent more new college graduates from the Class of 2017 than they hired from the Class of 2016.
More than half of responding employers reported plans to maintain college hiring at last year’s levels.
Most responding employers characterized the job market for 2017 graduates as “good” or better.
At the bachelor’s degree level, graduates with degrees in business, engineering and computer/information sciences are expected to be most in demand.
