Charlene Jane Valdes, 79, of Ionia, passed away Feb. 21, 2017.
She was born Nov. 29, 1937, in Dowagiac, the daughter of Eugene and Mary Etta (Mosher) Valdes.
Charlene loved dogs, puzzles and word searches. Because of her kindness and sense of humor, she was loved by many.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Gene Valdes of Ionia; brothers Victor Dean (Rita) Valdes of Oklahoma and Donald (Maggie) Valdes of Dowagiac; special nieces Colleen Goodman of Ionia and Onette McKenna of Ionia; nieces Sara (Mike) Hyatt of Dowagiac, Kathryn Blass of British Columbia and Ella Zapella of British Columbia; and nephews Anthony Hyatt of Dowagiac, Todd Valdes of Sister Lakes, Robert Valdes of Decatur and Christopher Baggs of Dowagiac.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of life will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Green Acres Assisted Living in Ionia. Pastor Mike Haefner will officiate. Committal services will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac.
