Athlete Showcase: Brandywine’s Vincent Peel

Vincent Peel is a senior on the Brandywine boys basketball team.

 

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

VP: Winning districts for basketball last year.

 

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

VP: Letting my team down my sophomore year in the playoffs.

 

What has been a hardship in your life?

VP: Always having someone I am trying to be better than.

 

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

VP: My grandpa, because he has helped me make it through every rough patch in my life.

 

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

VP: Right before the beginning of the game.

 

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

VP: My one-yard punt.

 

How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?

VP: A lot of conditioning.

 

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

VP: Golf.

 

Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?

VP: You get the full effect and emotion of how friends are made.

 

How would you give away $50,000?

VP: It would go toward homeless shelters.

 

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

VP: The Louisville football team.

 

If I did not play sports, I would…?

VP: Not be who I am today.

 

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

VP: To work out and get stronger every day.

 

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

VP: Traveling.

 

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

VP: Start as a sophomore, and I was very happy I did it.

 

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

VP: Jaden (Croom) 360-degree dunk.

 

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

VP: To eat. It comforts me.
