James A. Edwards, 94, of Dowagiac, born in 1922, passed away Monday, Jan. 23, 2017.

A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2017, at Michiana Church of Christ, 504 E. Prairie Ronde, Dowagiac. Friends may visit from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Jim will be laid to rest in Lincoln Township Cemetery in Stevensville at a later date.

Jim proudly served his county in World War II in the U.S. Navy, serving for six years in the South Pacific. He earned 24 service medals. Jim was married to Dorothy “Skip” for 30 years before her passing in 2014. They had no children, however Saskia, a foreign exchange student now living in South Africa, was loved like a daughter.

Jim is survived by his nieces and nephews, Jean Potempa of Memphis, Tennessee, Mary Sinibaldi of Rockford, Illinois, Carol Parker of Denver, Neva Cali of Illinois, Patricia McGrath of Denver, Linda Hughes of McHenry, Illinois, Thomas Moore of Mexico, Colleen Farr of Olean, New York, Sherry Edwards of Bradford, Pennsylvania, Patrick Edwards of Bradford, Margo Edwards of Ypsilanti, Marcia Edwards of Ypsilanti, Christina Edwards of Tennessee and Kathleen Large of Missouri, and his loving church family.
