Athlete Showcase: Dowagiac’s Taylor Pye

Taylor Pye is a sophomore on the Dowagiac girls basketball team.

 

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

TP: Making varsity two years in a row.

 

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

TP: When I get down I start to give up.

 

What has been a hardship in your life?

TP: When I lost people I loved.

 

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

TP: My dad, because he always pushes me to do better.

 

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

TP: The beginning of a game.

 

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

TP: Missing a wide-open layup.

 

How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?

TP: Working on my shot.

 

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

TP: Softball.

 

Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?

TP: I love being active and moving around being competitive.

 

How would you give away $50,000?

TP: I would give it to a girls basketball program.

 

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

TP: The women’s basketball coach at Notre Dame.

 

If I did not play sports, I would…?

TP: Get a job.

 

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

TP: Dribbling.

 

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

TP: Double dribble and traveling.

 

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

TP: “You really work hard out there. Good job.”

 

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

TP: Driving for the first time, and yes.

 

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

TP: A move in the post.

 

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

TP: Softball and volleyball, because I like to stay active.
