The historical Chapin Mansion at 508 E. Main St. has always been special to the community members of Niles, but through December until Jan. 6 the mansion really shines — both inside and out.
Sponsored by the utilities department and the city of Niles, the mansion begins to glow as the Christmas lights come on just after the sun sets around 5 p.m.
This year, those who pause to enjoy the lights can enjoy two separate light shows, which are synced to the radio station 88.3 FM.
Niles History Center Director Christina Arseneau said this offers some variety.
“The lights are choreographed go to on and off in time to the music,” Arseneau said. “And it looks like they are dancing along to the music. The Christmas trees will light up inside the mansion also.”
Synced by TPC technologies the 5 to 8 p.m. show features a more traditional Christmas music sound track, while the 8 to 10 p.m. show is synced to jazz inspired music.
“If you want to stay and see both shows that is fun to do,” Arseneau said. “It is free and fun to go to … and it is great for families.”
