First and foremost, I would like to say thank you to the community for taking the time to go out and vote in the election this year.
Secondly, I would like to thank the community for supporting the renewal of the sinking fund in Niles, as this outcome will critically impact the future of our schools and our community as a whole. With the renewal of this millage, we will be able to continuously provide the resources and support necessary to foster a positive, encouraging learning environment for our students.
In Niles, educating students are at the heart of our community. As such, we are so thankful for the renewal of the sinking fund.
This renewal means that our students will see great benefits through schools being kept in good repair and having functional buildings and classrooms for teachers and children alike, allowing more time for focus on academics. Children attending schools in good repair have higher academic achievement and increased school pride.
Our goal is to give our students the best we can offer and these goals are achieved because of a supportive community like we have here in Niles. The roofs, parking lots and transportation vehicles, among other things, might seem trivial at first glance, but these are the things we must keep in good condition so our children can focus on their studies. The renewal of the fund will ensure that all of these needs will be met and students will be able to thrive and reap the benefits for years to come.
The support of the community does not go unnoticed by our students and staff. Recently, schools and students participated in United Way’s Day of Action event, raking leaves for the elderly throughout Niles. This is just one example of how the school community understands the importance of giving back to those who believe in them, their achievements and our schools. All of Niles is affected by what goes on in our classrooms and I thank you on behalf of our students and staff for providing resources for them to become their very best.
I am so grateful to be a part of such a positive, welcoming community that truly believes in the future of our students and our schools. I am often in our buildings and continue to be impressed with our students and staff who are working hard and doing the right things. We are developing caring and conscientious citizens who will contribute greatly to the Niles community for years to come.
Thank you to everyone who got out to vote and for serving as our partner in the education of the community’s children. We look forward to the continued success of Niles Community Schools. Go Vikings!
