Dowagiac’s Little finishes 67th at state finals

BROOKLYN — The Wolverine Conference turned in a big day at the MHSAA Lower Peninsula Cross Country Championships at Michigan International Speedway Saturday.

The Otsego girls successful defended their state championship by easily winning the Division 2 title.

The league also had a number out outstanding finishes in the boys race, including Dowagiac freshman Shawn Little, who finished 67th with a time of 16:53.

The Otsego boys team, which were runners-up in 2015, finished fifth overall.

The Bulldog’s Alex Comerford was the top finisher as he was nineth overall with a time of 16:02.

St. Joseph’s Anna Fisher was the runner-up in the Division 2 girls race with a time of 18:30.

Edwardsburg’s Sophia Mick, also a freshman, was 115th with a time of 20:49.

Otsego finished with 48 points as it was led by Megan Aalberts, who was fourth overall with a time of 18:47.

East Grand Rapids finished a distant second with 187 points.
