Visiting River Valley has not won a game since its 2013 season opener and the Mustangs have not scored a single point in the past 13 games.

That did not change Friday night as Brandywine improved to 3-4 with a 38-0 win over River Valley at Selge Field.

There were several close calls for the Mustangs, including a recovered a fumble on the opening kickoff, which they marched into the red zone before turning the ball over on downs to Brandywine.

But the Bobcats’ defense stiffened when it needed to and earned the shutout while also scoring the game’s final touchdown on a fumble recovery.

Corbin Eckenberger had a big game as he scored on runs of 2- and 69-yards, while running for a 2-point conversion and throwing for four more.

Jordan Abrams scored on a 73-yard run and Dillan Plew opened the scoring on a 18-yard run.

M.J. Gorja, who had never played football before coming to Brandywine in 2013, corralled a bobbled shotgun snap and scored to give the Bobcats the 38-0 victory.

Brandywine finished with 318 yards of total offense, all of which came on the ground.

The Bobcats held the Mustangs to 161 yards of total offense.

Eckenberger led Brandywine with 120 yards rushing on 11 attempts, while Abrams added 95 on nine carries and Plew 85 on 18 rushes.

Brycen Duffield and Gorja both had six tackles for the Bobcats.

Peyton Pruitt and Alex Hayden each had an interception.

Brandywine heads to Bridgman Friday night.
