Niles gets past Brandywine

Host Niles and Brandywine continued their tune ups for the post season with a non-conference tennis match Tuesday.
The Vikings swept the doubles flights en route to a 5-3 victory over the crosstown rival Bobcats, who took three out of four singles flights.
Jake Ruelle defeated Caleb Cole 6-1 and 6-1 for Niles’ lone singles victory.
Austin Carter defeated Blake Sarratore, Matt Stewart defeated Ryan Stoops and Derrick Miller defeated Justin Osban in straight sets for Brandywine.
“I think we have improved a lot at some flights,” Brandywine coach David Sidenbender said. “I’m real happy with Caleb Cole’s play and the improvement of Austin Carter. I feel we have a shot to compete for the conference tourney champ, which is all you ask for. These young, inexperienced players we started out with have really impressed me and I’m real happy with their play overall.”
Both teams were scheduled to face Edwardsburg before Saturday’s conference tournaments.
The Vikings were set to face the Eddies Wednesday, while the Bobcats are scheduled to face Edwardsburg today. Both matches were dependent on weather.
