What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

KM: Making boys get very angry or cry because I beat them.

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

KM: Losing a game that I know I could have won.

What has been a hardship in your life?

KM: Not being able to play softball because of thumb surgery.

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

KM: I’d have to say probably my dad because he has overcome a lot of things in his life and still managed to succeed in sports, athletics and just being a good, positive person.

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

KM: When I know that if I mess up I could cost the team the game.

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

KM: When you get a runny nose, but you can’t just stop the game and blow your nose, so you’re just chilling with snot coming out of your nose.

How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?

KM: I usually run, so I just blare really hype music that gets me in my zone.

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

KM: I think that swimming or archery would be really cool.

Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?

KM: They get you out of your comfort zone (which is a good thing). You meet new people. Sports just let you forget about school and let you leave all your stress behind.

How would you give away $50,000?

KM: I would go to Riley’s Children’s Hospital and just give all the money to families who need money for the treatments for their kids.

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

KM: I would be the coach for the women’s USA fast-pitch softball team.

If I did not play sports, I would…?

KM: I’d probably be doing absolutely nothing.

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

KM: Proving myself to others and proving myself to myself.

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

KM: For softball it would have to be that we are able to lead off before they pitch the ball.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

KM: “You play like you’re six-feet tall.”

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

KM: Stand in front of a very tall, athletic guy hitting a tennis ball at me. I’m glad I did it because I proved to myself that I’m just as good as they are and just because they are bigger doesn’t mean that they are better.

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

KM: After being down by five runs, a team came back and ended up winning.

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

KM: Hunting, because it’s very peaceful and calming. It’s almost like you’re meditating.
