The Niles golf team finished fourth at the SMAC West jamboree it hosted at Orchard Hills Country Club Monday.
The Vikings shot 217, as did Portage Central, but earned the fourth place spot based on the fifth-player tiebreaker.
The Mustangs only had four players at Orchard Hills Monday.
St. Joseph continued to dominate the West Division as the Bears shot 174 as a team to easily outdistance runner-up Portage Northern, which shot 206.
St. Joseph now has an eight-point lead over the Huskies in the overall standings, 30-22.
Niles is fourth with 10 points.
“For the first time all year we had all six of the golfers break 60,” Niles coach Dan Brawley said. “We are improving each week. We have spent a lot of time working on our short game, but we still have too many three putts plus.”
Cailey Rooker of St. Joseph shot a one-over par 36 to earn medalist honors.
Elizabeth Clark shot 51 to lead the Vikings.
