Joyce Pierson, 83, of Niles, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2016, at home. She was born June 10, 1932, in Escanaba, Michigan, to Paul & Lily Herbert.

On April 21, 1951, in South Bend, Indiana she married Oliver “Buss” Pierson was married 61 years prior to his passing on April 11, 2012. Joyce remained a widow to her late husband that she cherished very much.

Joyce was a retired waitress and enjoyed talking to everyone. In her spare time, she loved visiting with her family & friends, going to local casinos, and playing on her iPad. She spent several years living between Niles, Michigan and Plant City, Florida, where she was a member at the St. Clemens Catholic Church.

Joyce is survived by her son, Orville “Lee” Pierson of Niles, Michigan with children Paul and Michael Pierson; daughter, Ann (Gary) Hampton, of Niles, Michigan with children Heather, John Jr. and Joshua LaMore; son, Oliver “Buzz” (Katrina) Pierson, of California with children Kali “Brook” Roberts, Chea Pierson; and four beautiful and loving step-daughters, DeeDee Warton of Missouri, Maria (Jack) Shipley of Kentucky, Rosemary (Vern) Remero of Colorado, and Frances (Joe) Roberts of Florida; 44 great-grandchildren; 34 great-great grandchildren; and many more nieces and nephews.

Family was always the most important part of her life; always telling everyone to enjoy it and love each other no matter what. We will all miss her laugh and telling us she loves us but we will carry her through our memories and daily thoughts forever.

A mass held by the family will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Niles, and gather afterwards at the Eagles for friends and family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan. Online condolences may be made at www.hovenfunerals.com.
