Nearly a year since the murder took place, a Cass County jury will decide the fate of a Dowagiac man accused of killing his wife inside their home last spring.
The case of the People vs. Terry Ray Stineback is set to begin Tuesday morning in front of Cass County Circuit Court Judge Michael Dodge, at the county law and courts building in Cassopolis. The trial will begin with jury selection at 9 a.m., with opening remarks by the prosecution and defense to begin shortly afterwards.
Stineback, 44, will be tried by a jury on charges of open murder, assault with intent to murder and felony firearms.
The charges against the Dowagiac man stem from an incident that occurred May 12, 2015, at Stineback’s residence on Flanders Street in Wayne Township. According to police, deputies with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the home around 9:48 p.m. after receiving a call reporting that a shooting had occurred inside the residence.
