Two injured in traffic accident

Two people were transported to the hospital Sunday after the motorcycle they were riding was struck by a car in Silver Creek Township, according to a release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
According to police, the accident occurred around 7:12 p.m. Deputies were dispatched to a reported accident on M-152, west of M-51 outside of Dowagiac and Sister Lakes. The crash occurred when a westbound motorcycle, operated by 30-year-old Charles Hammond, of Dowagiac, collided with a vehicle driven by 40-year-old Stephanie Pinkowski, of Hartford, who was turning into Lutz’s Drive In on M-152.
Both Hammond and his passenger, 24-year-old Kaylea Davis, were injured in the accident. Hammond was transported to the hospital by AirCare, while Davis was taken to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital by Pride Care Ambulance.
Both riders on the bike wore helmets, while Pinkowski was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the traffic crash, which is still under investigation by police.
Assisting Cass County deputies at the crash scene were Pride Care Ambulance, Pokagon Tribal Police, Sister Lakes Fire Department and AirCare flight.
