Fashion show fundraiser to benefit Lory’s Place

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. — Community members are invited to attend a fashion show fundraiser organized and directed by students from St. Joseph High School at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at the Veranda at the Whitcomb, located at 509 Ship St.

Local youth and women will showcase apparel available at various shops and boutiques throughout southwest Michigan. There will also be an opportunity to bid on items donated by local businesses during a silent auction.

Proceeds will benefit Lory’s Place, a grief healing and education center of Hospice at Home, a Lakeland Health Affiliate.

Organizers request a minimum entry donations of $5 for students high school age and younger and $10 for adults. Guests will also have the option to reserve a table for six for $50. Tickets can be purchased online or in person on the day of the event and at Lory’s Place, located at 445 Upton Drive in St. Joseph. Lory’s Place is a Grief Healing and Education Center of Hospice at Home, at Lakeland Health affiliate.

Since opening on Nov. 15, 2004, thousands of children from Allegan, Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties in Michigan, as well as from northern Indiana, have taken the courageous step of accessing the bereavement resource services of Lory’s Place. With professional bereavement staff and trained volunteers, Lory’s Place provides regularly scheduled age-appropriate support group sessions that allow children and adults to interact with peers who have suffered similar experiences.
