A Dowagiac Union High School student was recently named one of 51 finalists across the state in the Meemic Foundation’s Meemic Masterpieces, a statewide art competition.

Elizabeth L. Davis, whose entry was sponsored by her mentor and foundation club member Teri Frantz, received a Kindle Fire HD tablet from local Meemic agent Dean Hagen and Meemic field consultant Mark McLean Wednesday at the high school. In addition, the agents handed a $300 check to Union High School art teacher Dean Hill, who will use the money to pay for art supplies for his classroom.

Davis’ and other finalists’ art pieces will be framed and hung inside the Meemic headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan. In addition, her work will be featured online at MeemicFoundation.org
