Niles, Brandywine swept in baseball

Both Niles and Brandywine dropped conference baseball games Tuesday.

The Vikings were swept by Lakeshore in SMAC West Division play, while the Bobcats were defeated by Comstock in BCS Athletic Confrerence action.

Niles was back in action Wednesday against Portage Northern, while the Bobcats will head to Kalamazoo for the Hackett Invitational Saturday.

 

Niles baseball

The Vikings lost to the Lancers 2-0 and 4-3.

Drew Huffman tripled for one of Niles’ three hits in the first game.

The Vikings outhit Lakeshore 8-5 in the nightcap as Bryce Lake and Jake Lalone each had two hits.

 

Brandywine baseball

The Bobcats lost to the Colts 13-4 and 4-3.

Brandywine had three doubles in the opening game — Hunter Janowiak, Brady Duval and Cole Searles.

Janowiak also drove in a pair of runs and Zach Grishaber had two hits.

In the nightcap, Jeshua Wiese hit a home run as the Bobcats were held to five hits.

Brandywine is now 17-10 on the season.
