VICKSBURG — Visiting Dowagiac dropped a pair of Wolverine Conference softball games to Vicksburg Tuesday.

The Chieftains were swept by the Bulldogs 4-1 and 9-4 as they dropped to 20-8 on the season.

Dowagiac managed just 11 hits off of Avery Slancik, who picked up the win in both games.

Megan Soderbloom had a double in the opening game and Marissa Dodd hit her first career home run in the nightcap.

“We had an off day today,” Dowagiac coach Mike Behnke said. “I have to figure out a way to get girls more mentally prepared versus the tougher teams. We play great and make every play against teams we know we can beat, but good teams where the game might be close we flinch and don’t make the plays. We will work on it the next 2 days to prepare for Paw Paw.
“I do want to say congratulations to Megan Soderbloom on her school record seventh home run of the season and to Marissa “Rou” Dodd for hitting her first ever home run tonight.”
