Robert Dale Ditson, 54, of Edwardsburg, Michigan died unexpectedly at 8:55 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2016, at his home.

He was born on Feb. 17, 1962, in Niles, Michigan to Jesse Loyd and Patricia May (Vinnedge) Ditson. He was a graduate of Niles High School, served a tour of duty in the United States Army, and earned a degree in electrical engineering technology from Ivy Tech. He was employed for many years at Gaska Tape, Inc. and at Patrick Industries, both of Elkhart, Indiana.

Bob was a great fan of classic rock music, and was a talented bass player, working gigs at venues throughout this area, and sitting-in with several garage bands. He is also well-known for his hospitality, always having an extra place at the table, and never turning anyone away.

On July 4, 2001 at their home he married the former Debby J. Worsham with whom he celebrated last year the fifteenth anniversary of their wedding.

Surviving family includes his wife, Debby Ditson; children Laila (Tim) French of Niles, Heather (Kyle) Hadwen of New York, New York, Jonathan (Dustan) Ditson of Edwardsburg, and Aaron (Amber Russell) Ditson of South Bend, Indiana; grandchildren Tristen French, Aubrie Ditson, Tyler Ditson, Liam Ditson, and Vanessa Ditson; Bob’s siblings, Jim (Alice) Ditson of South Carolina, Mary (Rick) Smith of Niles, Mark Ditson of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Bill Ditson of Roseland, Indiana, and Janice (Harvey) Dickerson of Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Bob Ditson will be at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with the Rev. Jeff Reese of Hope United Methodist Church in Edwardsburg officiating. The service will conclude with Full Military Honors in the parking lot of the funeral home by the American Legion Post #365 of Edwardsburg.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday at the funeral home beginning at 5 p.m. Contributions in memory of Bob may be made to the donor’s choice.
